Napz Sleep Aid Review: What does it do?
This our Napz Sleep Aid review, a sleep supplement with claims to promote:
- Longer Sleep
- Better Mood
- Deeper Sleep
But how well will it work for you?
In this review, we’re looking closer at the ingredients and side effects in this supplement along with our suggestions on how to improve it.
Napz Sleep Aid: The Ingredients
Unfortunately, we have to say that the whole thing is in a proprietary blend.
A proprietary blend is when a supplement manufacturer chooses to hide the dosages of the ingredients in their nutrient profile.
It’s a pretty big lack of transparency and worse it makes it hard for us to know how effective it is.
You don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting so it’s difficult to gauge if you’re getting enough of what you need.
Below, we give you our write up of the main ingredients in Napz Sleep Aid along with our suggestions of how to improve it:
This is a nice start to the Napz Sleep Aid. Chamomile is a herb that you regularly see in nighttime teas.
Does it actually promote sleep? Technically no, but it does a lot to encourage it.
Chamomile works well because it contains Apigenin. This is component in the herb which helps to promote your levels of the hormone GABA.
GABA is a hormone in your system that can help to reduce anxiety, while also promoting calmness and relaxation. This can help get you in a much better mindset that is easier to persuade into sleeping after you get into bed for the night.
It doesn’t directly promote sleep, but it does do pretty much everything but. If you set up the right environment, it can definitely help you sleep.
Passion Flower Extract
This is a similar nutrient in Napz Sleep Aid that can help in the same way.
Passion Flower is another herb which contains Apigenin which can help to promote your overall levels of GABA. As we’ve already mentioned this can help get you in a much more relaxed mindset which can support you getting to sleep faster.
So, why not just use GABA? The reason is that the hormone itself finds it hard to cross your blood-brain barrier to absorb. It’s unreliable on it’s own and may not give you the same benefits of using a precursor.
That’s why Passion Flower and Chamomile are good choices.
This is another effective option in Napz Sleep Aid, but again, sadly it’s not one that can help with direct sleep.
Lemon Balm was a nutrient originally used in nootropics (cognitive enhancers) it was thought to help mental agility.
Sadly, however, this turned out to not be the case. What was found instead was that Lemon Balm is good for reducing stress and promoting calmness.
This makes it another one of those options that can help give you a better mindset for a faster sleep. It doesn’t directly promote sleep, but if the circumstances are right, it can help you get to bed.
The final ingredient in Napz Sleep Aid, and one that may need more research. At the moment there is some minor evidence that Hibiscus can help reduce anxiety.
This could help give you a better mindset. There is also some proof of it speeding up onset sleep when combined with other nutrients.
At the moment, we think a lot more study is needed to say if this is going to have any positive effect on your sleep in Napz Sleep Aid.
Napz Sleep Aid Ingredient Summary
Before we get into this, we need to say our first issue with this supplement nutrient profile is the proprietary blend.
How can you know how effective a supplement is if you don’t the dosages of each ingredient used?
It’s something that needs to be made more transparent.
The next thing that we’d like to mention is that there are no melatonin enhancers. These are the ingredients that increase your overall levels of the sleep hormone melatonin.
Good options of these that would work well in Napz Sleep Aid include Montmorency Tart Cherries (they contain a natural source of melatonin) and L-Tryptophan.
L-Tryptophan is converted into serotonin by your body which helps to improve your mood. It’s then again converted from serotonin into melatonin which helps to promote your sleep.
These would definitely help this supplement. It would also help to have something to reduce overnight twitches and jerks like magnesium (by relaxing nervous impulses during sleep).
Napz Sleep Aid Side Effects – Are there any?
We don’t believe there are any, and we haven’t heard any reports. Although this is a proprietary blend, we can’t see these ingredients causing side effects.
That said, we can’t speak for everyone. If you have any concerns, we suggest that you check with your doctor before using it.
Aside from that, we think you’re good to go.
Napz Sleep Aid Summary
Overall, this is a sleep aid on the market that helps your mindset more that actually promoting sleep.
It would also work as a calming supplement given the ingredients in here. In our opinion, we think this supplement would be better if it had more melatonin boosting ingredients like L-Tryptophan or Tart Cherry.
It’s a good supplement, but far from the best on offer.
