NUVANA Shut Eye Ingredients: How are they?
There’s quite a few in here, and on the whole, they’re good.
NUVANA seem to cover a lot of the bases with Shut Eye. It can help mood and mindset, reduce night disturbances and even promote sleep.
There are a few suggestions that we have to make it more effective, but it’s pretty strong on it’s own.
Here’s our write up:
The first ingredient in NUVANA Shut Eye, and a great start.
We love seeing this mineral in sleep aids, it doesn’t promote sleep directly, but it can help a lot after you enter your slumber.
So, what does it do?
Magnesium can help to reduce muscle impulses that you do across your body involuntarily overnight. These twitches and jerks may wake you up and disturb your sleep.
By using something like magnesium to keep your body relaxed, you can reduce the chances of waking yourself up in your sleep and have a longer more satisfying night.
This is another good nutrient used in NUVANA Shut Eye. L-Theanine is an amino acid, which again, doesn’t directly promote sleep – but it can help you in other ways.
L-Theanine can help boost your levels of the hormone GABA. GABA can help reduce anxiety and also boost your overall feel of rest and relaxation.
This can put you in the right mental environment for when you get into bed. It makes it a lot easier for you to fall asleep under the right circumstances.
This is the hormone we’ve just mentioned, however we do have some concerns with it being used directly in NUVANA Shut Eye.
The reason for this is that it can be hard for your body to absorb when orally supplemented. Studies show GABA has difficulties crossing your blood-brain barrier. Failure to do means you’re brain won’t receive the GABA to give you the full benefits.
Ideally, you need ingredients which are much easier to absorb that help to promote GABA naturally once they are on the inside – like the L-Theanine in here.
Tying in with the GABA theme here, Valerian Root is an effective option in NUVANA Shut Eye.
It’s traditionally used in nighttime teas and thought to help sleep. Admittedly, it doesn’t directly promote sleep, but it can help your GABA levels.
With higher levels of GABA you are more relaxed, calmer and have less anxiety. This can make it easier for you to fall asleep after you get into bed.
One of the better options in NUVANA Shut Eye. 5-HTP is a form of Tryptophan which is great for sleep.
After you consume it, your body converts it into serotonin. This can help to improve your mood. After that, the serotonin is converted again into melatonin – which is your body’s sleep hormone.
This can help you get a better night’s sleep and with a longer, better quality slumber.
Chamomile Flower & Passion Flower
Both of these ingredients have been put together in our write up of NUVANA Shut Eye.
This is mainly because they have the same properties which help with sleep. They both contain Apigenin. This is a compound which can help to promote GABA levels.
As we’ve mentioned, good amounts of GABA can help promote calmness and reduce anxiety. This is great for giving you the best mental state when it’s time to go to bed.
This is a good addition to NUVANA Shut Eye. Lemon Balm was originally used in cognitive enhancer (nootropics) to help improve mental agility.
However, further studies have shown that it doesn’t really perform well in this capacity. That is not the full story, though. Lemon Balm was seen to effectively help promote calmness while reducing stress and anxiety.
Again, this is a good nutrient that doesn’t directly promote sleep, but does everything else needed to help you drift off after you hit the hay.
This is one of the main ingredients in NUVANA Shut Eye. Melatonin (as we covered before in our 5-HTP report) is your body’s natural sleep hormone.
It is released from your brain via the pineal gland into your bloodstream. Melatonin signals to your body that it is time to go to sleep. It’s a very effective sleep promoter.
The only issue that we have with it here is the source. We don’t know if the melatonin in NUVANA Shut Eye is natural or not.
Many companies use artificial melatonin in their sleep supplements because it is cheaper and more accessible. However, it can reduce the overall effectiveness of the hormone.
Better options would be to use nutrients which contain a natural source of melatonin. Tart Cherries are always a good option when it comes to this. They are packed with their own levels of the hormone along with other benefits and would be good in this NUVANA Shut Eye.
NUVANA Shut Eye: Ingredients in Review
As you can see, there are plenty of good ingredients in NUVANA Shut Eye. We like the Magnesium and 5-HTP a lot in here. The GABA boosters are good too for getting you in that right mental state for sleep.
The melatonin is good, but we’re unsure whether or not it is actually natural.
It would be much better if this ingredient in NUVANA Shut Eye was replaced with something like Montmorency Tart Cherries so you know the melatonin being used comes from completely natural sources.
It’s a shame, aside from that, it’s a decent sleep aid.
NUVANA Shut Eye Side Effects – Are there any?
Not that we can see. All the ingredients in here appear to be safe at these dosages.
What’s more we haven’t seen any reports of people having negative side effects from supplementing it.
If you have any concerns, we suggest that you speak to your doctor before using it, just to be safe.
NUVANA Shut Eye Summary
Overall, this is not bad sleep supplement. A lot of the main bases are covered and it should help you get a better night’s sleep.
The only thing we would say is that we have our concerns when it comes to the melatonin.
If the melatonin was replaced with something that was verified as natural like Tart Cherry, it would make this supplement look a lot better.
