What does Olly Restful Sleep do?
This is our assessment of Olly Restful Sleep. It’s a sleeping supplement which can help promote:
- Long, restful sleep
- Deeper sleep
- Better mood and relaxation
Also they come in gummie form, which is always fun!
In this report, we’ll be looking mainly at the ingredients in this supplement from Olly to see how effective it actually is.
Along with that, we’ll also be considering any side effects and any recommendations we may have to improve it.
Here we go!
How are Olly Restful Sleep’s ingredients?
They’re good for getting you relaxed, and in a better mood for sleep. But really the only ingredient that is actually promoting direct sleep here is the melatonin.
This isn’t a bad thing, many sleep supplements do this – but there are just other options out there which go the extra mile and use more promoters.
There are some improvements and tweaks that could be made to this formula, and we’re happy to cover them.
Before that, let’s look at what each ingredient does:
This is a great start to Olly Restful Sleep, and although it doesn’t directly promote sleep there are several other cool ways it can help you.
L-Theanine is an amino acid, one that’s commonly found in Green Tea. The main thing it does well when supplemented is relax you. It’s good for bringing out an overall sense of calm.
The main way it works is by promoting a hormone in your body known as GABA. This is a hormone that raises your calmness and reduces your anxiety levels.
This is effective for producing that state of mind that is more open to falling asleep. It’s a nice touch in this sleep aid.
This is arguably one of the strongest ingredients in Olly Restful Sleep. Melatonin is your body’s natural sleep hormone, supplementing it can help to boost your levels of it and give you a more restful sleep.
It’s a good choice in a sleep aid – however, there’s always the concern of whether it’s natural or not.
Many sleep supplements out there prefer to use synthetic melatonin because it is more readily available and in most cases cheaper.
We’re not sure if that is the case here – however, we can say that a better option to avoid this confusion would be Tart Cherries. Tart Cherries are full of natural melatonin and are great for helping you with a decent night’s sleep when supplemented.
This is a great addition to Olly Restful Sleep for helping you get into a more relaxed mindset.
You most often see Chamomile in nighttime teas that are claimed to promote rest, and for a good reason – they work.
Chamomile contains Apigenin which is component found in numerous herbs which helps to promote relaxation, boost calmness and decrease anxiety.
This three-pronged attack is great for getting your body in the right mindset for a long relaxing sleep.
This is a similar herb to Chamomile. It’s similar in the way that it is also used in nighttime teas to promote sleep.
But it is as effective in Olly Restful Sleep?
We’d say so. It’s another nutrient that contains a good amount of Apigenin. As we’ve already mentioned, this means it’s a great option if you’re looking to reduce your overall levels of anxiety while putting yourself in a much better state of mind.
It doesn’t directly promote sleep, but it creates the right setting that can help encourage it when you get into bed.
We’re seeing Lemon Balm a lot more in sleep supplements at the moment – and we’re glad.
Back in the day, you used to see Lemon Balm at lot in cognitive enhancers like nootropics. However, it’s ability to raise cognition was debunked in studies.
So, why are we happy it’s in a sleep supplement if it doesn’t work?
It doesn’t work for cognition, but it can help to reduce stress and promote calmness.
Again it can help put you in the optimum frame of mind to get the most of out a good night’s sleep. It relaxes you in a way that makes you more susceptible to sleep.
Ingredient Profile Summary
Olly Restful Sleep has some good ingredients, and it should have some positive effects on your sleep.
However, we do think there are some areas that could be improved. The melatonin may need some clarifying of whether or not it’s natural.
As we’ve mentioned, a good cover here would be Tart Cherries. They contain a natural amount of melatonin which can help promote your body’s overall levels.
Another good move would be to add L-Tryptophan. This is an amino acid which is converted into natural melatonin after your body absorbs it.
Finally, we think more could be done about preventing twitches and jerks during your sleep. Magnesium would be good for this. It has been seen to relax your nervous sleep overnight and lower the amount of involuntary movements – this can help to give you longer, more undisturbed sleep.
That said, the L-Theanine, Passionflower, Lemon Balm and Chamomile will all help create a good mindset to help lull you into an easier sleep.
Is Olly Restful Sleep dangerous or addictive?
Not that we’re aware of. All the ingredients in here don’t have links to causing side effects at these dosages – and it’s all natural (clarification on the melatonin, needed however).
If you have any concerns, we suggest that you consult your doctor of a medical expert before using it.
It also wouldn’t hurt to check if you have any preexisting conditions which this supplement might interfere with.
All in all though, we think it’s relatively safe.
Olly Restful Sleep Summary
From our report on Olly Restful Sleep, it looks like a good choice. There’s nothing really here that stands out to what most of it’s competitors are doing on the market when it comes to ingredients.
The main trick that we think they’ve missed here is the Tart Cherry melatonin and using L-Tryptophan to boost more natural melatonin. We think Magnesium might help here too.
If they ever decide to revise their formula, they could surprise us and make a few of these changes. However, if you’re just looking for something to relax you before bed and get you sleepy to some degree – there’s nothing wrong with this supplement.
